Company of Muses' Silent Auction for Dance School
There is no question that the opportunity to participate in arts programs can be literally life-changing for a child. The Company of Muses, a Brattleboro-based not-for-profit organization, is sponsoring a two-part fundraising event to provide dance scholarships to local children who might otherwise not be able to afford classes at the Brattleboro School of Dance. Since 2014, the Company of Muses has granted over 40 awards totaling nearly $20,000 in dance scholarships. For 2016-17, the Company of Muses has committed to providing more funding than ever to reach more students in need.
A Silent Auction at Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery (139 Main St. in downtown Brattleboro) kicks off this year's fundraising drive. Items ranging in value from $20 to $3,000 will be on display during the November 4 and December 2 Gallery Walks, when the public will be invited to participate in the bidding process. The auction will end at 8:30 p.m. on December 2, and that evening the theater will host free-admission dance performances from the Junior and Senior companies of the Brattleboro School of Dance—donations at the door are welcome!
The impressive range of items in this fall's Silent Auction includes a digital art piece by Michel Moyse, an original oil painting by Jim McGrath, a "ski and stay" family package for four from The Hermitage Club & Spa, and an exquisite Herkimer diamond and gold necklace from Renaissance Fine Jewelry. All items can be viewed on the Company of Muses Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CompanyofMuses/photos/?tab=album&album_id=654313571410284.
